Arr by Michael Ryan . . . Thanksgiving . . .
This is good music for Thanksgiving - it mixes three of the common hymns of the fall season (Ash Grove, Sing To The Lord of Harvest, and We Gather Together). This piece keeps everyone busy throughout, and the energy never stops. This is suitable as a feature handbell piece at any moment in a Thanksgiving service, and would be a good concert number as well.
Highly recommended by Handbell Services.
Note: The publisher lists this as Level 2 - however, it includes a few fast measures of weaving, technically a Level 3 technique, so approach those few measures slowly and carefully.
• Keys of C and F major, 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures, marked "with energy" 96 speed
• 8th and quarter notes predominate; there are accidentals in spots, and the aforementioned measures of weaving that enhance the ending (must be carefully worked out)
• There are no special techniques except one closing mart
• Dynamics are mf and f throughout; the vitality of moving notes continues throughout
