This is a reissue of a classic Level 2 arrangement from the Hope Publishing archives, one we are glad to keep see in the repertoire. It is a great piece for Easter, starting with quarter note chords (with everyone involved) and moving into a faster and more urgent tempo with 8th notes and bass malleting to a large ff ending that softens beautifully on the final chords.
The music is easily worked up by even a first-year choir that has progressed to Level 2.
We see this used as an Easter or Lenten choir performance piece in any service of the season.
• Key of G Major, 4/4 time signature, marked "moderato" 96 speed
• Quarter notes, then 8th notes predominate; there are no accidentals
• Bass malleting/plucking (for the entire second part of the piece) is the only special technique
• Mezzo dynamics gradually expand into forte and ff dynamics -- the piece grows in complexity as it progresses
