  1. Indispensable for handbell ringers and for people who compose for handbells

Posted by Mark on Mar 24th 2016

I am both a handbell ringer and a composer who writes for handbells. There is an almost bewildering assortment of techniques which are used in playing handbells, each with their own unique sound.

I favor linear counterpoint when I compose music -- but I'm also focused on changes in timbre and color. This reference guide is absolutely indispensable for helping me choose and notate the technique I want to use when I'm writing. It's also a great refresher when I'm playing handbells and see a rarely-used technique (TLD, PL, TPL etc.) this guide is extremely helpful in explaining the technique to be used.

This guide should be in every bell-ringer's music folder.

  2. Very helpful

All the information I need (including a brief description of the technique) in a very concise and easily referenced page. I love it!

  3. Handbell reference material

Posted by Linda Vick on Aug 28th 2013

At a recent handbell workshop I saw this sheet
of bell terms which had, not only the sign for the different bell technique, but also explained how to perform the technique. I felt this would be a good thing to have in each of my bellringers folders. This will be a good tool for them to have and help them with their understanding of what to do when playing the music.
