This is a striking "celebration" piece, one that is technically Level 3- but one that plays like Level 2+ instead -- the music combines a simple syncopated rhythm with abundant special techniques (martlifts and RTs and echoes and a few gyros and a swing) that provides good audience appeal throughout. The energy never lags -- it is propelled by alternating measures of 8ths and quarters anchored by bass chords -- and the entire flow of the music is cheery and flowing, into a final 8 measures of RTs and syncopations and martlifts and shakes and a big final chord/mart (Cynthia's trademark style).
The only Level 3 items are the multitude of techniques and the 128 speed, which needs to be maintained -- this is a superb challenge piece for a Level 2 choir wanting to extend their reach, or an exciting and easyish piece for a Level 3 choir -- suitable music for either a concert or a choir feature in a service (particularly a celebratory service).
• Keys of F and Db and C Majors, 4/4 time signature, marked 128 speed
• Quarter note measures mixed with 8th note measures are the style, with easily picked up syncopations; there are no accidentals, but two abrupt key changes.
• Special techniques abound -- martlifts, marts, RTs, gyros, echoes, and a measure of swings
• Dynamics are mf and forte and ff throughout (with an 8 measure p section in the middle for some contrast); this is not a shy piece!
