Loading... Please wait...Arr by Michael Ryan . . . Sacred Hymn . . .
This is a solid arrangement of the well-known hymn tune that takes the well-known melody slowly through three keys and a final maestoso ending. Each of the three sections is different -- in the first, the trebles and basses oppose each other; in the second, the basses and middle battery bells take over the harmony; and in the third, everyone comes together in a full chordal style that involves all the ringers in the big ending.
We can see this used at all times of the year (perhaps especially at Thanksgiving) as a handbell presentation piece that is full and rich and rewarding to an audience.
• Keys of G and Bb Major, 3/4 time signature, marked "steadily, not too fast" 69 speed
• Slow 8th note movement throughout; there are no accidentals
• There are no special techniques
• Dynamics run from soft at the beginning, steadily rising to a strong ff ending.
