One in a very clever series of arrangements that includes three short arrangements of Haydn themes for Level One. Each is a certain Level 1, with quarter notes and half notes that move along in chords; the special techniques are not at all difficult, and usually are just in one or a couple of measures. There are notes from the arranger that explain each Haydn arrangement that are helpful in understanding both the Classic period and the methods of performing each arrangement.
The three arrangements:
Sonata in D Major (Allegro) -- Key of G, 4/4 time signature, 34 measures, quarter note melody and harmony, accents and shakes that imitate trills
Glorious things of Thee Are Spoken -- Key of G, 4/4 time signature, 40 measures, quarter and half notes, shakes that imitate trills, TDs, a couple of marts, a final tower swing
"Surprise Symphony" (Andante) -- Key of C, 4/4 time signature, 34 measures, quarter and half notes, some bass plucking, accents, and a final martlift
